England is officially eliminated from Champions Trophy 2025 after Afghanistan beat England by 8 runs on Wednesday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. After winning the toss Afghanistan team decided to bat first but they lost 2 wickets early at the score of 15 and at one time they were 3 out on total of 37. But Ibrahim Zardan scored 177 which is the highest individual score of the Champions Trophy and helped Afghanistan reach 325.
Chasing 325 England started well Joe Root played brilliant inning of 120 from 111 balls it was his 17th in the ODI and since 2019 World Cup but he got no support from other end and his brilliant inning goes in vain. Later in last minutes of match Overton played some good shots but Omarzai had some other plans last night.
Now Afghanistan has to face Australia in their another Do or Die Match if they want to continue in Champions trophy they have to beat Australia and that too with good margin because now run rate will matter for all teams.
