My Dream Academy, the region’s first professional acting school at which budding actors will be imparted hands-on training in basic acting and associated skills by seasoned film and theatre artistes, opened in the City Beautiful. The star studded launch was attended by Bollywood luminaries Deepti Naval, Adil Hussain, Dolly Ahluwalia, Yashpal Sharma and Gurpreet Ghuggi as well as singer and actor Gippy Grewal, who is the academy’s brand ambassador, .
This is the first acting school in the country which has brought together Pollywood (Punjabi cinema) and Bollywood veterans under its aegis to hone the skills of upcoming film and theatre stars.
“With the help of our own production house, My Dream Entertainment, and our wide network and future tieups with various production houses, we endeavour to not just train our students but guide them towards the varied directions they wish to take after the training. We aim to help them gain a foothold in production houses and other professional bodies where they can,” said My Dream Academy chairman Arminder Singh.
Established actors will be periodically visiting the academy where interactive sessions and acting workshops are an integral part of the curriculum.
The regular faculty members include Kamal Tewari, Neelam Man Singh Chowdhary, Neeta Mohindra, Chakresh Kumar, Sudhanshu Gaur and Puneet Jewandah, all accomplished in their own walks of life. The top ten students will be cast in the first home production and other meritorious students too will be given roles.
“Essentially, we endeavour to show each student the best possible path from where his journey can become focused and easier,” added director Balpreet.
