AAP MP Malvinder Kang deletes post criticising Land Pooling Policy after backlash

Hours after expressing his reservations about the Land Pooling Policy on his social media handle, Aam Aadmi Party’s Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang deleted the post.

Late last evening, Kang, who was earlier the chief spokesperson of the Punjab unit of AAP, had posted his viewpoint on X, urging his party leaders to “earn the trust” of farmers regarding this policy.

His tweet was later retweeted by some Opposition party leaders, including Sukhpal Khaira, who congratulated him for “cautioning against the dubious Land Pooling policy”.

Though Malvinder Kang did not respond to calls, sources close to Kang said that he had been raising the issue of brewing resentment among farmers about the policy with the party’s top brass.

He reportedly conveyed that he and some other leaders had faced the anger of people in villages on this issue.

Late last evening, Kang tweeted, “The objections raised by farmer unions on the Land Pooling Policy must, in my view, be heard with empathy and addressed through meaningful dialogue. In the last three years, our government has ensured uninterrupted agri-power, pushed canal water to every field, fast-tracked mandi reforms & promoted crop diversification. On this, too, trust must be earned—not assumed—before any policy takes root”.

The deletion of the post by Kang has caused as much, if not more, uproar, as did his post. From X handles that support farmer causes to Opposition leaders all derided the Anandpur Sahib MP for deleting the post.
