A court here on Saturday declared AAP legislator Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra a proclaimed offender in a rape case and sought details of his immovable and movable assets.
The development comes almost a month after the court initiated proceedings to declare him a proclaimed offender on failing to appear before the police in connection with the rape case registered against him on September 1.
The district police have already issued a lookout notice against the Sanaur MLA.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (City 1) Satnam Singh said, “As of now, he continues to remain on the run and we are looking for him. The court has declared him a proclaimed offender and proceedings will now be initiated according to the law.” The MLA dodged a Patiala police team and fled the house of his relative in Haryana’s Karnal moments after policemen arrived there to arrest him on September 2.
The Patiala police had booked him on charges of rape, cheating and criminal intimidation. The case was registered based on a complaint by a Zirakpur-based woman.
