The Panchayat of a village in the district has issued a unique decree. The growing anger against migrant labourers in Punjab is now clearly visible in the decisions of the village panchayats. The latest case is of the village Gahri Bhagi in Bathinda, where the Panchayat has imposed 5 strict conditions against migrant labourers by announcing it inside the Gurudwara Sahib.

- The rules issued by the Panchayat are as follows:
- Migrant laborers will not be able to buy any house or land in the village.
- Along with this, there will be a ban on making Aadhar card and voting card for migrant laborers.
- The migrants who come to the village will be able to stay only on the farm motor.
- The farmer in whose field the migrant labourer works will be fully responsible for it.
- Police verification of every migrant worker will be done.

Village resident Jagseer Singh said that people are angry due to the incidents happening with migrant labourers in different areas of Punjab including Hoshiarpur. Village Sarpanch Baljit Singh said that any labourer who comes for work will not be able to settle in the village. Neither will he get a vote, nor will he get an Aadhar card, nor will he be able to buy any place. This decision has also received the support of the Kisan Union. BKU Sidhupur Block Pradhan Jasvir Singh said that migrant labourers from UP-Bihar are spoiling the atmosphere of the villages, so now they will not be allowed to stay. However, this decision of the village panchayat has become a matter of controversy and there is a heated discussion on it in administrative circles.
