A massive fire broke out at a scrap yard in Pitampura, Delhi, killing two people and seriously injuring three others.

A massive fire broke out in an empty plot used to store scrap cardboard and cardboard in Pitampura village in outer Delhi on Tuesday, killing at least two people and injuring three others, police said. They said a PCR call alerted them early Tuesday morning. The fire broke out in an empty plot where cardboard and cardboard were stored under a temporary tin shed.

Police immediately rushed to the scene and informed the fire department. Six fire engines were rushed to the scene and a firefighting operation was launched. Due to the high concentration of highly inflammable materials, the fire was spreading rapidly. After tireless efforts, firefighters brought the fire under control. During the rescue operation, five people were found with burn injuries at the scene. They were immediately admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial (BJRM) Hospital in Jahangirpuri for treatment.

A senior police officer said two of the injured, Biresh and Satish, were declared dead by doctors, while the remaining three are undergoing treatment. Police said preliminary investigations revealed that all five men were residents of Bihar’s Nalanda district and were living in tin huts built on the plot. They collected waste cardboard and cardboard from nearby markets and sold them.
