COMEDY REACHED ITS SATURATION POINT IN 2014.PUNJABI INDUSTRY IS ALL SET TO CHUM OUT ISSUE-BASED MEANINGFUL CINEMA IN 2015.
Films like Punjab 1984 and Chaar Sahibzaade made 2014 a fruitful year for cinema. Taking a clue from this ‘meaning’, year 2015 has geared up to dish out more films that will invariably and in all likelihood fall in the newly-created sensitive genre of films.
Starting with January, the film that is already getting noticed is Pawan Malhotra-starrer Eh Janam Tumhare Lekhe ,directed by Harjit Singh. The film is based on the good service of the Pingalwara Charitable Trust. Pawan Malhotra has already made a mark in Punjabi cinema with his negative role in Punjab 1984. The film will be released on January 30, and will be the first issue-based film for the year 2015.
Baljeet Singh’s Dhee punjab di and Jeet Matharu’s Kudessan are next up for release in the month of Feburary. The audience of Punjabi films will have to wait for the laugh riot stories that will come calling, for sure!
Talking about laughter, Munde Kamaal De starring Binnu Dhillon, Amrinder Gill and Yuvraj Hans, directed by Amit Prasher will try to tickle our funny bone in the month of March.
Now, if all goes well, this year director Gifty Chadda will release his kabhi shuru, kabhi stuck project Mukhtiar Chadda with actor Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role opposite newcomer Oshin Sai. Diljit’s fans are actually waiting for the release of this film, as it portrays Diljit in an all-together different role, something like Ranbir Kapoor’s Rocket Singh.
Year 2015 is actually going up to be a year of selective films. Producers and directors, including the actors, know that they are treading a thin line.
Projects like Himmat Singh with Arjan Bajwa in the lead will be hopefully released in mid-2015. Directed by well-known director Baljeet Deo, the film shows Arjan as a boxer.
Baljeet’s Hero Naam Yaad Rakhi, starring Jimmy Shergill and Surveen Chawla, also releases this year with aplomb. Fight Back is yet another film that ran through difficult times will be see the light of the day. This film brings together actors Harish Verma and Kartar Cheema after Yaar Anmulle.
The industrywalas have hidden the hose pipe with which they flooded us with laughter. Whatever little you might get could be in the form of films like What The Jatt or 22g Tusi Ghaint Ho. This year, Rohit Jugraj who gave us Jatt James Bond, returns with Sardaar ji (releasing wolrdwide 26 June 2015 ). Zorawar and Punjabiyan Da King will also be releasing this year.
If all goes well, 2015 will actually come up with Punjabi films that will leave a mark on the international circuit!
