The alleged ₹30 lakh bribe that was made public during the Republic Day celebrations has now taken legal form. In this case, the lawyer Dr. Gaurav Arora has sent a formal complaint to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) demanding an independent and impartial investigation into the matter.

Dr. in his complaint. Arora said that during an official Republic Day program held on 26 January 2026, it was alleged from an open forum that an illegal bribe of ₹30 lakh was paid to get the post of Municipal Council President. The allegations also mention the alleged involvement of a sitting AAP MLA.
According to the complaint, this allegation was made not in a private conversation, but in a public function, which was heard by many people and the video recording of which is also said to be available in the public domain. The complainant has asked to attach relevant news reports, video links and other digital materials as evidence.
Dr. Arora has raised suspicions in his complaint that this case may be related to abuse of public office, illegal money transactions and possibly money earned from crime. He says that ignoring such huge amount of money and allegations related to elected public representatives will be against the public interest.
He has demanded that the Enforcement Directorate take cognizance of this allegation and investigate the source, transaction and utilization of the alleged amount of ₹30 lakh. It has also been requested to initiate a preliminary investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and take further legal action if necessary.
