Iran succumbs to Trump’s threats, says ‘Nuclear bombs are forbidden in Islam’

Amid continuous threats from the US President and international pressure, Iran has once again clarified that it has no intention of making a nuclear bomb. Dr. Abdul Majid Hakim Elahi, representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in India, said that nuclear weapons are ‘haram’ in Islam. In an interview, Dr. Elahi said that Iran wants to use nuclear energy only for peaceful and humanitarian needs like treatment, energy and social development. He clarified that Iran has never gone on the path of making nuclear weapons.

Khamenei’s fatwa on nuclear bomb
Dr. Elahi’s statement refers to the fatwa of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, which prohibits the development of nuclear bomb, calling it against Islam. He said that Iran’s nuclear facilities are under strict international surveillance and many sanctions have been imposed on it, whereas such strictness is not seen on the nuclear programs of some other countries. He alleged that this is the double standard of the international system. Dr. Elahi also said that last year America and Israel targeted Iranian nuclear sites, accusing Iran of developing nuclear bomb.

During the interview, Dr. Elahi also mentioned the historical ties between India and Iran
. He stated that the relationship between the two countries dates back more than 3,000 years, predating the rise of Islam. He explained that even during that period, Indian philosophical texts were studied in Iran. He expressed hope for a positive role from India in the Chabahar project and emphasized cooperation between the two countries.
