A tragic train accident has occurred in southern Spain, claiming the lives of at least 21 people and injuring a large number of passengers. The accident occurred near the Adamuz area of the Cordoba province.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a high-speed train suddenly derailed. After derailing, the train crossed the tracks of another oncoming train, and the two trains collided violently. The impact was so severe that one carriage of the first train was completely overturned.
Police officials told Reuters that at least 21 people were killed in the accident. According to state broadcaster Television Espanyola, more than 100 people were injured. The condition of approximately 25 passengers is reported to be critical. The report also states that the driver of the train, traveling from Madrid to Huelva, was among those killed.
Passengers on the trains at the time of the accident described the impact as feeling like a strong earthquake. There was chaos inside the carriages, and many passengers had to break windows with emergency hammers to get out.
According to media reports, there were approximately 400 passengers on both trains combined. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed deep sorrow over this serious accident and said that the government is closely monitoring the situation.
Madrid Region President Isabel Díaz Ayuso also offered all possible assistance to the Andalusia administration. She said that Madrid hospitals are fully prepared to treat the injured if needed. For the time being, rail services between Madrid and Andalusia have been completely suspended for security and investigation purposes.
