Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Ashishi’s difficulties are increasing. The Legislative Assembly Secretariat has issued a notice to the Sikh Gurus for allegedly violating their special rights and insulting the dignity of the House.

According to the official paper, the incident took place during the proceedings of the House on 6 January 2026. On that day, the issue of pollution was to be discussed in the House, but it is alleged that Ashishi violated the dignity of the House despite repeated warnings from the Speaker. The letter said that during this time he allegedly made derogatory remarks against Sikh Gurus, causing ruckus in the House and disrupting the proceedings.
Speaker’s actions and notices
The Speaker asked Ashishi to appear in the House on January 8 to clarify her position, but she did not appear. As a result, the Speaker referred the matter to the Special Powers Committee. As per the instructions of the Chairman of the Special Rights Committee, the notice issued by Assembly Secretary Ranjit Singh directed Ashishi to submit his written statement on the incident on or before January 19, 2026.
