The US military on Saturday launched another powerful counter-offensive against the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group in Syria. This attack was in retaliation for the deadly attack in Palmyra last month that killed two US service members and an American civilian interpreter.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes were carried out at 12:30 PM US time. The US military, in collaboration with its allies, targeted ISIS positions in several areas of Syria. These strikes targeted ISIS hideouts, weapons depots, and their networks.
The attack is a retaliation for the terrorist incident that took place in Palmyra last month, in which ISIS carried out an ambush.
Killed in this attack were:
- Sergeant Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar
- Sergeant William Nathaniel Howard
- Ayad Mansoor Sakat, a US civilian interpreter
Both soldiers were members of the Iowa National Guard.
“If our soldiers are harmed, we will find them from any corner of the world and kill them” – America
CENTCOM stated sternly: “Our message is clear – if you harm our troops, we will hunt you down and kill you wherever you are in the world, no matter how hard you try to escape.”
Operation Name: ‘Operation Hawkeye Strike’
The US government has named this operation, launched in response to the Palmyra attack, “Operation Hawkeye Strike.” The operation began on December 19th when the US launched a major strike against 70 ISIS targets in central Syria, targeting terrorist infrastructure, weapons, and operational bases.
The war against ISIS continues
Although ISIS has weakened compared to its previous levels, it still maintains the capability to launch attacks in Syria and surrounding areas. The United States and its allies are conducting continuous airstrikes and military operations to completely eliminate it.
