The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) achieved a major success and killed the gangster Siraj Ahmed in an encounter with a bounty of one lakh rupees. This encounter took place in Gangoh police station area of Saharanpur district. Siraj Ahmed was absconding in the notorious Sultanpur murder case and had more than 30 cases of serious crimes registered against him in several districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Siraj Ahmed, who was absconding after the Sultanpur murder case,
was originally from Sultanpur district. He had committed a famous murder there, after which he was on the run. The police and STF were looking for him for a long time. The government had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head for his arrest.
Reached Saharanpur from Punjab-Haryana border
According to intelligence information, Siraj Ahmed had reached Saharanpur from Punjab-Haryana border and was planning to carry out some major crime in Gangoh area. Meanwhile, the STF received a solid information about his movement. As soon as the information was received, the STF team cordoned off the Gangoh area and tried to stop Siraj. Seeing himself surrounded, Siraj started firing at the STF team. In retaliatory action by STF, Siraj Ahmed was killed in the encounter.

According to police records, more than 30 serious cases including murder, attempt to murder, Gangster Act and National Security Act (Rasuka) were registered against Siraj Ahmed in different districts of Uttar Pradesh. He had long been a major challenge to law and order.
A close associate of Mukhtar Ansari, D-68 gang leader
Siraj Ahmed is said to be close to notorious mafia Mukhtar Ansari. He was also the leader of the D-68 gang. The administration had already attached his half a dozen cars, about 7 valuable properties (worth crores of rupees) on the order of the court. With this action, other criminals in the district were also disturbed.
