CBI court dismisses default bail plea of suspended DIG

A CBI court here on Thursday dismissed the default bail application filed by suspended Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar in a disproportionate assets case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered the case on October 29, 11 days after Bhullar was arrested in a corruption case. Bhullar and his alleged aide, Kirshanu Sharda, were arrested on October 16, 2025, for allegedly seeking bribe from a complainant.

According to the CBI, Bhullar was allegedly demanding illegal payments from a scrap dealer of Mandi Gobindgarh through Sharda. Following the arrest, the agency conducted raids at various locations linked to Bhullar. Based on the assets allegedly unearthed during the searches, the CBI registered a separate disproportionate assets case against him.

The agency claimed that during the investigation, it seized huge amounts of cash. Gold jewellery, silver items and 26 branded and expensive watches were also recovered. Documents related to immovable properties were also seized.
