“India lost on the first day of Operation Sindoor,” says Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan.

Senior Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has made a statement regarding Operation Sindoor that has created a political storm. Chavan made the controversial statement, saying that India suffered a crushing defeat on the very first day of Operation Sindoor, and the Indian Air Force was completely paralyzed.

Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said that while India is superior to Pakistan in terms of military size, Operation Sindoor has clearly proven that future conflicts will be fought largely through air power and missiles.

Chavan said, “In terms of military strength, we have 1.2 million to 1.5 million soldiers, while Pakistan has 500,000 to 600,000 soldiers. But this (large number) is irrelevant because that kind of warfare (on the ground) will no longer happen.” Speaking to reporters here, the former Union Minister questioned the need for such a large army.

The Congress leader said, “It no longer matters how much infantry you have, because no one will let you fight that kind of war. We saw during Operation Sindoor that the army didn’t advance even a kilometer. During Operation Sindoor, the fighting was limited to air and missile attacks, and future wars will continue in the same way.” Chavan said, “In such a situation, what is the need to maintain an army of 1.2 million soldiers? It would be better to use them for something else.”
