On Monday evening, an incident in the US state of Florida left people breathless. A small plane suddenly landed on the busy I-95 highway near Merritt Island and collided with a car. This emergency landing, conducted amid high-speed traffic, could have resulted in a major accident, but fortunately, no one was killed.

The pilot had to take a risky decision due to a technical fault.

The Beechcraft 55-class private plane suddenly ran into trouble during the flight. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, both of its engines lost power simultaneously, leaving the pilot no choice but to land. The 27-year-old pilot and his passenger on board ejected safely.

Aircraft collides with Toyota car, female driver injured

The plane was attempting to land on the highway when it struck a 2023 Toyota Camry. The 57-year-old woman driving the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m., when the highway was heavily lined with vehicles. After the collision, the plane stopped in the middle of the highway, causing panic.

The highway remained closed for several hours, with police and rescue teams active.

Second plane crash in Florida on the same day

Coincidentally, another plane crash was reported in Florida on Monday. A Cessna 172 aircraft also experienced a technical problem when it landed in DeLand, about 46 miles from Orlando. Two people on board were injured but are in stable condition.
