Due to a fault in the operating system of Indigo Airlines from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, 9 flights were cancelled on the 6th day and the flights that were running were delayed by 30 to 45 minutes from their scheduled time. According to the information, 5 departure and 4 arrival flights were cancelled from Chandigarh International Airport on Monday, taking the number of cancelled flights to 9. However, the control room set up by the airport authority on Monday benefited the passengers a lot and there was no crowd of passengers at the Indigo counters.

In addition, the railways have set up a help desk to assist the airport authorities, which is assisting passengers. Furthermore, luxury trains from Chandigarh railway station to Delhi are full, with waiting times exceeding 50 minutes. Train number 22448 Vande Bharat will be closed on Tuesday, resulting in waiting times of 50 minutes for the Chandigarh-Ajmer Vande Bharat train and over 10 minutes for the economy class of the Shatabdi Express.
Ambala division sets up help desk at the airport
In light of the recent operational crisis caused by Indigo Airlines, the Northern Railway Ambala Division has prioritized passenger convenience by establishing a dedicated railway help desk at Mohali International Airport. The primary purpose of this help desk is to provide guidance and options to air travelers who wish to continue their journey by rail. Railway staff are constantly present at the airport, providing information to passengers regarding available trains, timetables, ticket booking, additional coach arrangements, and alternative passenger services. In response to the increased demand from affected Indigo Airlines passengers over the past few days, additional coaches are being added to several trains, including Shatabdi, to ensure no passengers face any inconvenience. The railway is also assessing how many additional coaches and special services may be required based on the current situation.
IndiGo flight cancellations impact train services
Due to a glitch in Indigo Airlines’ operating system, passengers are increasingly opting for luxury trains. On Tuesday, one Vande Bharat train and three Shatabdi trains departing from Chandigarh to Delhi were fully booked. Furthermore, the waiting time for chair car and economy class on the Shatabdi train departing from Chandigarh to Delhi this morning increased until 7 pm, a result of which was being felt at Chandigarh Railway Station.
