Britain issued a travel advisory for its citizens, saying – 10 km away from the India-Pakistan border…

International concern has increased following the massive car blast that occurred on the evening of November 10th near the Red Fort in Delhi. Ten people were killed and more than 25 injured in the blast. The incident appears to be linked to terrorism, following which the Home Ministry has handed over the investigation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Given the sensitivity of the blast, Britain has issued a travel advisory for its citizens regarding travel to India.

Do not go near the India-Pakistan border

The UK government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has advised its citizens to take several precautions while travelling to India.

10 km distance

The advisory specifically advises citizens not to travel within 10 kilometers of the India-Pakistan border. The FCDO has designated this area as unsafe. Furthermore, the UK has prohibited its citizens from traveling to most parts of Jammu and Kashmir. However, travel to and from Jammu city and beyond by air is permitted.

Embassies activated

Embassies of other countries have also been activated in light of this terrorist threat in Delhi and are closely monitoring the situation. This advisory from the UK makes it clear that they view this incident as a serious security concern.
