After serving the country, the way to play a new role in the society has become easier. The Haryana government has taken a historic decision to relax the age limit of ex-firefighters in state government jobs. This decision will benefit those youths who are ready to start a new life by returning to civilian life after four years of military service.
Chief Secretary’s Order
State Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi has issued instructions to all departments, boards and corporations saying that ex-firemen resident of Haryana will now be eligible for age relaxation in government recruitment. This relief is being given keeping in mind their military service period, so that after completing the service they are not deprived of the obligation of age limit.
Special relaxation on Group B and C posts
According to the official order, ex-servicemen will get additional age relaxation of three years in the recruitment of Group B and Group C posts. At the same time, a special exemption of five years has been made for the firemen recruited in the first batch. The government’s move has brought relief to 2,227 firemen who were part of the initial batch of the scheme.
Why this decision was necessary
So far 7,228 fire fighters have been recruited from Haryana – including 2,227 of the first batch, 2,893 of the second batch and 2,108 of the third batch. After completing four years of service, the age of many firemen crosses the normal recruitment limit. The new policy will provide them with employment opportunities in the government sector and rehabilitation in the society.
The order will apply to all departments
The government has made it clear that this order will apply equally to all departments, universities, boards, corporations and regional offices of the state. All the officers have been strictly instructed to follow this decision so that no eligible Agniveer is deprived of it.
