Harbhajan Singh, Olympians step in to aid flood-hit state

In the aftermath of the devastating floods that have ravaged parts of Punjab, several prominent Indian sportspersons have stepped forward to provide both relief and emotional support to those affected. Cricketer and MP Harbhajan Singh, along with hockey Olympians Hardik Singh, Manpreet Singh and Mandeep Singh, have been at the forefront of relief efforts in flood-hit regions.

Harbhajan Singh has been particularly active in Sultanpur Lodhi, one of the worst-affected areas. Despite the challenges posed by the floods, Harbhajan ventured into remote villages, often using tractors to navigate areas where vehicles could not reach. He has been seen interacting closely with locals—seeking blessings from the elderly, sitting with women preparing langar (community meals) and engaging in conversations with farmers to understand their difficulties.

“Even if the water level has receded, the situation seems to have worsened this time,” Harbhajan remarked during a media address on Tuesday, following another visit to the affected areas. The cricketer was also seen distributing relief kits alongside a friend from Mumbai.
