Owaisi angry at BJP over India-Pak match, says- ‘Drown in water’

AIMIM chief and Member of Parliament from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi has launched a scathing attack on the BJP over the India-Pakistan cricket match. Addressing a public meeting, he asked tough questions to BJP leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Owaisi questioned the BJP’s motives while referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians were shot dead after being questioned about their religion.

Question from BJP: ‘Why match with Pakistan?’
Owaisi said, “I ask the Chief Minister of Assam, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and all the BJP leaders, do you not have the guts to refuse to play a cricket match against Pakistan?” He said in an emotional tone, “If your daughter dies, then will you play cricket with Pakistan? One match will bring 600-700 crore rupees, isn’t the price of the lives of 26 of our citizens more than that?”

Targeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Owaisi said, “We said that blood and water cannot flow together. Talk and terrorism cannot coexist. So should we remain silent because BCCI gets Rs 2,000 or Rs 3,000 crore from a cricket match? BJP should question this.” He took the BJP leaders by the hand and said, “Those who talk about patriotism should drown in the water. Will you do this for Rs 700-800 crore or Rs 2000 crore?”

‘We stand with 26 citizens’
AIMIM chief insisted, “We stood with those 26 citizens yesterday, we are with them today and we will be with them tomorrow.” He demanded that the BJP take a clear stand on this issue and said that the people of the country need an answer as to why the India-Pakistan cricket match is being held despite the terror attacks.
