River Beas flows on highways: Hotel washed away in Manali, Alert in Punjab – School holidays in four districts

In many states of the country, the havoc of monsoon is not stopping. From the hilly areas to the plains, the rains are no longer a relief but a disaster. Life is being badly affected in many states including Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Rivers are overflowing, roads are blocked by landslides and flooding, and in some places even schools have been closed.

In view of the continuous heavy rains in many districts of Punjab, the state government has announced a holiday in schools taking precautionary measures. All government and private schools will remain closed today (August 26) in Pathankot, Fazilka, Bathinda and Hoshiarpur districts.

Continuous rain in Himachal, high water level of Beas River
Rain has created a serious situation in Himachal Pradesh. The water level of river Beas is increasing rapidly in Mandi district. The Meteorological Department has issued a two-day red alert in Mandi, Chamba and Kangra districts. People living in river banks and low-lying areas have been advised to be cautious.

Manali, a famous tourist destination of Himachal Pradesh, is under the grip of heavy rain these days. Heavy rains last night caused the Beas river to overflow, causing many areas including the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway to be submerged. The Beas river water has reached the roads-highway, completely submerging the Volvo Bus Stand, Aloo Ground and Green Tax Barrier in Manali. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the administration has ordered to keep all schools and colleges closed on Tuesday.
