As per latest updated, around 40 political leaders along with some MLAs in the present assembly and some former MLAs,have been allegedly robbed by two men who were initially realty agents, but, after receiving money from the MLAs for land, turned into Punjabi film producers.
According to the MLAs, who approached the Punjab police with their complaint, land developers Narinder Bhatia and Narwinder Singh diverted their money to fund a Punjabi movie, Jatt Risky. Also the developers used the money to produce a Punjabi film to cash in on the boom in the Punjabi film industry, instead of giving them the promised 25-acre land for the house. The legislators had reportedly paid Rs 13.38 crore for houses in Mohali. The Seven Star Welfare Society floated by the MLAs paid the money through cheques to Narwinder Singh, who used the money to fund the Punjabi movie. However, there is slight impropriety in the way of realtors realising their dream as the powerful lobby of leaders got suspicious after they did not get the land promised to them. Also they approached deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal with their problem.Society members said that initially they gave some chques to Mr.Bhatia, but he stopped taking interest in project. The society paid him Rs 9.70 crore through cheques and he produced three “agreements to sell”, which later turned out to be mock-up.
