The world’s oldest athlete Fauja Singh (114) merged into the five elements today. After the arrival of his family members living abroad, his last rites were performed in his native village Beas this afternoon.
Many political leaders and celebrities including Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria attended the funeral of Fauja Singh to pay tribute to him. Before the funeral, Fauja Singh’s body was brought from Jalandhar Civil Hospital to his home, where he was given a final farewell after the last rites.
On this occasion, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria shared his grief with the family and said that Fauja Singh’s spirit is saluted. He has increased the pride of India. He told that Fauja Singh had walked with him during the Nasha Mukti Yatra.
