Iran’s top Shia cleric, Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makram Shirazi, has issued a sensational ‘fatwa’ (religious decree) against US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In this decree they are directly called “enemies of Allah” and at the same time threatening that the enemies of Allah will be annihilated.
Declared ‘enemy of Allah’, danger of death
Ayatollah Makram Shirazi said in his edict, “Any person or regime that threatens a leader or marja (representative of Allah) is considered a ‘war chief’ or a ‘mohreb.'” According to the report, a ‘mohreb’ is a person who wages war against God. Under Iranian law, people identified as ‘mohreb’ face death penalty, crucifixion, amputation or exile. This fatwa is seen as a serious threat to Trump and Netanyahu.

Fatwa calls for Muslims to unite
This fatwa calls on Muslims around the world to unite and destroy American and Israeli leaders who threaten the leadership of the Islamic Republic. The fatwa clearly states that any aid or support to that enemy by Muslims or Islamic states is haram or prohibited. It further states that it is necessary for all Muslims around the world to make these enemies repent of their words and mistakes.
The religious decree also states that if a Muslim who fulfills his Muslim duties incurs difficulties or losses in his campaign, he will be rewarded as a warrior in the path of God if God wills.
An attack on Iran’s Supreme Leader would be considered a ‘war against Allah’
The fatwa further states that those who threaten the Supreme Leader of Iran or attempt to assassinate him will face the wrath of Allah. This kind of behavior will not only be seen as a tawheen (insult) of Allah, but it will be seen as a direct war against Allah.
This fatwa could further exacerbate the already strained relations between Iran and Western countries, especially the US and Israel.
