Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh has predicted that Punjab Kings (PBKS) will win their first title by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). The match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, he has warned about RCB star batsman Virat Kohli, whose wicket could be decisive in deciding the champion.
Yograj stressed that Punjab Kings need to get Kohli out early to win. He said that if Punjab does not get Virat out, they will be in trouble. He can chase 250 or 300 runs alone. Kohli is in great form, scoring 614 runs this season at an average of 55.82 and a strike rate of 146.53, making him the 5th highest run scorer. His batting has taken RCB to the final after 9 years. Kohli’s record in IPL finals (7 in 2009, 11 in 2011 and 54 in 2016) shows his ability to perform under pressure.
Yograj expressed confidence in Punjab’s chances and praised captain Shreyas Iyer. He said that the captain of Punjab is excellent. Shreyas is an amazing player and this contest will be between Virat and Shreyas. If Virat can win the match for RCB, then Shreyas can also do the same for Punjab. Shreyas has hit 39 sixes this season, the second most after Nicholas Pooran (4). His unbeaten innings of 65* (2020) and 6* (2024) in the previous IPL finals show his composure under pressure.
The final of IPL 2025 is expected to be a thrilling one, with Punjab Kings looking to outwit RCB at the world’s largest cricket stadium. Yograj believes that taking Kohli’s wicket in the first 10 overs could tilt the game in Punjab’s favour. He said that if Virat is not out early, the game is over. But I think Punjab will win. With a strong batting line-up led by Shreyas and RCB led by Kohli, this final will be a thrilling battle.
