Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is going to achieve another major milestone on May 18. ISRO will send its 101st satellite into space on this day, named RISAT-18. This satellite will further enhance our ability to monitor and observe the Earth. This satellite will be launched from Sriharikota through the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, also known as PSLV-C61.

ISRO Chairman V Narayanan gave this information in a press conference on Thursday. He said that ISRO had successfully launched its 100th rocket from Sriharikota in January this year. Now on May 18, India’s 101st satellite RISAT-18 will be launched, which is an earth observation satellite.
The main purpose of this satellite is to further strengthen India’s surveillance, remote sensing (gathering information from a distance) and the ability to provide rapid help in case of disaster. This will greatly help in the security and rescue operations of the country.
