A Punjab Police head constable have been sentenced to 3 years in prison for trying to smuggle opium to Canada by hiding it inside hockey stick. Special court of Ludhiana convicted the head constable Gobind Singh and his associate Nasib Singh for drug trafficking and imposed a fine of Rs 10000 each if they fail to pay the amount they have to spent additional month of imprisonment.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Chandigarh zone intercepted a parcel containing two hockey stickes with 48 grams of opium at DHL express office in Ludhiana. When they invested their investigation led to arrest Gobind Singh 32 FROM latala in Jodhan and Nasib Singh 42 from Nangal Khurd.
According to reports Gobind Sibgh who was posted as head munshi at the Raikot police station visited office near station personally uniform to dispatch the package.
