Punjabi university to start four new courses for Cinema and Mass-Media.The academic council of Punjabi University on Tuesday gave its approval to start four new courses by the university’s Centre for Advanced Media Studies (CAMS).The approval was granted to new five-year BTech/MBA Integrated Course in Television and Film The Economic Times, besides three evening courses in film acting, videography and video editing.
Courses run by CAMS include a four-year BTech in television, film production and media technology, three-year BA (Hons) in journalism, mass communication and media technology, and two-year MA in television and film production. Centre for Advanced Media Studies director Dr Gurmeet Maan said that the BTech/MBA course in television and film production will be conducted in collaboration with the university’s school of management studies, whose faculty will teach subjects related to various kinds of management linked with film production.
He further said the five-year BTech/MBA will be flexible in nature as there will be two exit points available to the students — first, leaving the course after completing four years for getting the four-year BTech degree in TV, film production and media technology or after five years enabling them to get two degrees — BTech in TV, film production and media technology as well as BTech-MBA integrated course in TV and film production.
Another new course, being started on the University Campus and given green signal was BSc. (Hons) in Mathematics. The other courses started earlier and given approval in the meeting include: diploma in electronics and communication engineering in computer engineering and in mechanical engineering at Rampura Phul college of engineering; PG diploma in folk dances of Punjab; PG diploma in Punjabi folk music in music department and sufi music in department of dance.
