Dolda Punjab is an attempt to depict the degenerated behaviour of people of Punjab, who are losing their self-consciousness and determination against social ills, such as drugs, alcohol, dowry etc.

The movie shows that people get involved in distribution of liquor during election days but such behaviour takes the cost of their next generation. It shows that son of a Sarpanch (not shown on screen in the movie), who was indulged in distribution of liquor for securing votes for his political party during elections, becomes alcoholic and ruins his life.

The movie also shows that how a Sikh father makes compromise with social values and asks his son to arrange for liquor and orchestra dancers for the entertainment of bridal party of his daughter’s marriage. His son attempts to oppose the father’s move but his father was not ready to listen to anything saying that it was important for him to secure wealthy match for his daughter.

According to Pardeep Singh, the story-writer, co-director-cum-actor of the “Dolda Punjab”, one could easily find the incidents slimier to those depicted in the film happening around in the now a day’s Punjab.

Nishan Singh, main character of the movie (played by Pardeep Singh), reminds that Guru Sahib had thought us not to compromise the values for petty things. He denies to attend the marriage of his close friend who could not convince his father, a Sikh, not to indulge in distribution of alcohol during the marriage. “Mera Russe Na Kalgianwala, Jag Bhaven Sara Russ Je”, Nishan Singh says before leaving his friend.

The movie calls upon viewers to win over the degeneration of character.
