SGPC & DSGMC send Langar (food) for Nepal’s earthquake hit people

Amritsar 28 April 2015: The Shiromoni Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee’s has announced to send over 100,000 Parshade (Chapatis) to the country of Nepal following the 7.9 earthquake which devastated the region. The committee will send the parshade through the Indian Air Force air craft to Kathmandu airport from where they will be dispatched to affected areas.
On direction of the SGPC president Avtar Makkar, the food has started to be prepared at the langar hall by the Sikh Sangat.The food will be sent through an aeroplane of the Indian army. For now, as many as 20 thousands food packets have already been sent via the first flight. The packets will be prepared fresh and sent in the outgoing air crafts to Nepal.The SGPC has also requested the Deputy Commissioner of Sri Amritsar to help with humanitarian aid

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (DSGMC) announced to send ‘Langar’ (free food) as part of humanitarian aid to earthquake hit areas of Nepal. It is notable that Nepal was hit by an 7.9 scale earthquake, which left more than a thousand dead.

DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK said that on the request of Indian government officials the Delhi government has decided to provide langar for 25,000 people on daily basis.

He said that Langar will be air-lifted from Delhi to Nepal’s earthquake hit areas.
