Mumbai: There are reports in media that Pakistani ‘item girl’ Venna Malik has been sentenced to 26 years imprisonment by a court in Islamabad (Pakistan). She was accused of committing blasphemy – an offense against religion.
Veena Malik’s ‘roles’ in various Bollywood (Hindi) movies were seen as ‘acts of vulgarity’. She recently performed an ‘item song’ in Punjabi film “Jatts in Golmaal”.
Veena Malik had recently married to a Pakistani business man. Her husband is also facing same sentence in this case. Third person convicted in this case is Shakil Ul Rehman the owner of ‘Geo TV’ – a Pakistani TV channel. Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman, owner of Geo and Jang group, was accused of allowing the airing of a blasphemous programme by Geo television in May, which played a religious song while staging a mock marriage of Malik with Bashir.
The convicts were facing charges of committing blasphemy during a TV show.
