First time women to be hanged in Indian ,Maharashtra’s Kolhapur, two women will be hanged as President of India — Pranab Mukherjee dismissed their mercy petition. Sources informed that the two women from Kohlapur, Maharashtra would be hanged anytime after Saturday, Aug 16.
Renuka Shinde and Shima Gavit women belonging to Kolhapur might just about become the first two women to be hanged in India. Since independence, 52 persons have been hanged to death in India so far and all of them are men. The President, Shri Pranab Mukherjee had rejected their mercy petitions. Wasnik, who was sentenced to death for raping and killing a three-year-old in Amravati in March 2007. Wasnik had lured the girl with the promise of buying her biscuits before sexually assaulting and eventually killing her.
These two sisters, Renuka and Seema along with their mother were on trial on the charge of kidnapping 13 children and later on killing 9 of them.enuka along with her mother and sister were arrested when police had busted the racket. Their mother died in Yerwada Jail in Pune while they were under trail. Later their father, who was arrested, was released. Nine children were killed as they refused to follow their instructions. The family members of both the convicts have been informed about the sentence.
