Chandigarh 19 jun 2017: In a press release issued in Punjabi/Gurmukhi on Sunday (June 18) the Shriomani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) announced to hold scrutiny of new Punjabi film called Super Singh. Punjabi film actor Diljit Dosanjh starrer movie has courted controversy over some scenes related to Darbar Sahib and Akal Takht Sahib. The movie is directed by Anurag Singh, the directory of Punjab 1984.
In his press release, the SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar said that the SGPC has formed a penal to scrutinise the contents of the contents of the movie. The panel includes SGPC’s executive member Ram Singh, member Rajinder Singh Mehta, deputy secretary Simarjit Singh and religious studies’ in charge Sukhdev Singh.
He said some scenes in the film related to the Darbar and Akal Takht appeared to be frivolous.
“We have received many complaints that the film portrayed Sikhism on a baseless philosophy. To check the same, an experts panel has been constituted to watch the film and submit the report,” he added.
Issuing a note of caution, the SGPC said if any filmmaker wanted to make Sikhi a part of his film, the script should get an approval from the SGPC.
