Ludhiana 8 May 2015: To show solidarity and support to the cause of Sikh political prisoners, Sikh religious preacher Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale visited Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa Tuesday (May 5) morning.
Based at village Hassanpur in Ludhiana, the elderly Sikh activist has been peacefully campaigning for the release of Sikh political prisoners who have been languishing in Indian jails after completing their minimum mandatory terms.
Bapu Ji has been on an indefinite hunger strike since 16 January 2015. Sikhs across Punjab should support the peaceful campaign for this just cause.
Earlier, as per a press release by PD Network, during a large scale Sikh gathering in a Diwaan on May 02, Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale have raised the issue of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike before the Sikh masses.
“What can be done where mothers/daughters are being thrown out of busses, where our Gursikh brothers standing up for the respect of Guru Granth Sahib Ji are having criminal cases registered against them, where the likes of Bapu Surat Singh are being ignored due to failures in the past by those who have attempted to do what he is doing now. Often fear of the past clouds our judgment, but not every person is the same and we do not want to be the ones who ignored a real lion” Baba Ranjit Singh reportedly said.
Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa advised that if there is a difference in views of how matters should be handled, then this should be discussed amongst Sikh circles. “We should not take everything at face value, but go to the bottom of every case and then make an informed unbiased judgment. However, if any third-party attempts to file cases against our brothers due to their endeavours of safeguarding the respect of our Guru, then Sikhs should stand united against such acts” he added.
